Valentine’s Day can be a bit tricky. While I’ve only actually had one real Valentine, I have constructed a few do’s and don’ts for you!
Do: Give Thanks for the ones that got away
You’ve probably had someone you’ve been obsessed with, even in love with – wish them the best and count your blessings you avoided moments of trying to make things work out longer than you needed to. They were SO not the one for you. Now you’re free to find someone better suited for you.
Don’t: Feel sorry for yourself
Don’t sit around today and be upset at yourself for being single, rather – focus your efforts on random acts of kindness for others. If you have a dog, love them – because right now they are your only companion.
Do: Spend the Day with your Friends
Nothing wrong with Galentines day (gals or guys). Invite some friends over for some board games and cocktails and discuss all those terrible relationships you’ve all had. Up the ante with some fun or not so fun sexual experience stories – those are always funny!
Don’t: Drunk dial your ex(es)!
This doesn’t help with feeling sorry for yourself when they don’t answer. You may feel lonely today, and the fact is – you are single. Just remember, “you’re single as a Pringle and ready to mingle till you tingle.” Don’t go trying to catch butterflies when the butterfly is already dead.
Do: Celebrate being single!
Just remember, being single means you don’t have to worry about splurging on new shoes, decor, or even a delicious dinner! You can do anything, go anywhere, and flirt frivolously without having to worry.
Don’t: You better not go on a first-date!
While it may seem cute and romantic, it just makes the date hella awkward. Talk about added pressure to an already complicated date.
I wouldn’t call myself a savvy single individual by any means – but I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s day filled with love! Don’t let being single get you down!
My name is Connor Harrison, and this is my single life possible.
